IMTD INTERNATIONAL IN UKRAINE
IMTD-International's Goal: Enhance people's welfare through the "Economic Rehabilitation" Program, developed and led by David Kartozia (USA). This program began in Georgia in 2013, expanded to Ukraine in 2018.
Implementation in Ukraine:
IMTD-International, a subsidiary of the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy (USA), was established in Ukraine to unite public, charitable, business organizations, and representatives from various political parties. This unification aims to gather a critical mass from diverse sectors. IMTD-International boasts over 250,000 active members in Ukraine and more than 200 branches within territorial communities. These branches provide services across various domains, including IT, accounting and audit, advertising, legal services, science, training, security, document services, tourism, real estate, construction, logistics, and community interactions.
Objectives of IMTD-International:
- Implement the Economic Rehabilitation Program.
- Engage with populations from grassroots to government across nine tracks: Government, Professional Conflict Resolution, Business, Private Citizen, Research Training and Education, Peace Activism, Religion, Funding, and Media and Public Opinion.
- Conduct anti-corruption activities in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and the Security Service of Ukraine.
- Promote international cooperation.
Strategic Approaches:
- Establish branches in territorial communities focusing on social (Foodbank) and business (Resource LLC) directions, including IT, legal, security, science, building, logistics, and tourism departments.
- Develop projects in business, education, healthcare, and the social sphere based on feedback from community collaborations. Support includes business ideas, start-ups, credit access, grants, and international market entry.
- Build closed-circuit projects.
- Create accountable, protective, and transparent systems.
IMTD-International has extensive experience in establishing departments and branches in Ukrainian communities since 2018. The organization promotes self-belief and opportunities among the population, operating under the motto, "Together we can do everything!"
Support and Collaboration:
IMTD-International is supported by the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy (USA) and 5Rocks Global. These organizations provide consultation, share international experiences, and help develop and implement large projects.
David Kartozia, the program author and strategist, chairs the Conciliation and Supervisory Board of IMTD-International. He coordinates the Head Office and organization, offering management training via ZOOM workshops. Alongside Karen Dickman (Executive Director of IMTD USA), Michael Kuiper, and the American team, they provide 24/7 consultations, training, and discussions with the Ukrainian population.
Community Impact:
IMTD-International emphasizes the importance of active citizen participation for economic improvement. The organization has strengthened trust in the government and boosted confidence in the future, fostering civil society unification. Their anti-corruption efforts and successful integration of the American system have built a solid reputation, easing collaboration with Western partners.
Communication and Transparency:
IMTD-International records all ZOOM meetings and shares information on their Facebook page and website, which is under construction to keep pace with rapid changes in Ukraine. Monthly reports are provided to members, partners, and the Ukrainian government, detailing their activities and achievements.

IMTD INTERNATIONAL IN ZAMBIA
A memorial marks the spot where a plane crash killed several United Nations members on a peace mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Dag Hammarskjöld’s values of unwavering dedication to peace, impartiality, and the belief that dialogue and diplomacy are key to resolving conflicts are foundational of IMTD and to our approach at IMTD Zambia. We have embraced these principles as pillars in our work:
-
Commitment to Neutrality: Like Hammarskjöld, we engage with all parties in disputes, fostering dialogue and mutual understanding without bias.
-
Respect for Diversity: With 73 different ethnic groups and languages, Zambia actively promotes inclusivity and cultural respect. The main languages spoken in Zambia’s 10 provinces are Bemba, predominantly used in Copperbelt, Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, and parts of Central Provinces; Nyanja, widely spoken in Lusaka and Eastern Provinces; Tonga in Southern and parts of Central Provinces; Lozi in Western Province; and Kaonde in North-Western Province.
-
Peace through Dialogue: Hammarskjöld's focus on peaceful negotiation guides our conflict resolution practices, where we organize peace forums and community dialogues to address tensions and work toward collaborative solutions.
The historical connection to Hammarskjöld's mission in Ndola serves as a reminder of Zambia’s long-standing dedication to peace, both within its borders and across the region. As a landlocked nation surrounded by countries that have experienced conflict, Zambia has served as a mediator, hosting peace talks and offering sanctuary to those fleeing unrest. Notable peace efforts include the Angola Civil War Peace Talks (1989-1994), which culminated in the Lusaka Protocol, the Congo Crisis Peace Talks (1998-1999), leading to the Lusaka Ceasefire Agreement, and discussions aimed at resolving Zimbabwe’s political crisis in 2008.
In 1961, Zambia (then Northern Rhodesia) was slated to host peace talks to resolve the Congo Crisis, with key players such as Cyrille Adoula, Congo’s Prime Minister, and Moise Tshombe, the leader of Katanga. Though the talks did not immediately resolve the conflict, Zambia’s role in this peace process cemented its reputation as a critical player in African diplomacy, a role it continues to uphold today under the leadership of IMTD Zambia.
